: A municipal chairman of CPI(M) in the district was today booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) on a complaint that he allegedly tried to make sexual advances towards a high school boy student.
Police decided to proceed with case against Erattupetta Municipal Chairman T M Rasheed after the boy's father moved the Kerala High Court, seeking justice.
Police said the boy had given a statement two weeks back before the district Child Welfare Committee, alleging that Rasheed had sent sleaze messages to his mobile and had even invited him to his room.

The Committee had handed over the report to police for necessary action.
Noting the delay in police action, the student's father moved the High Court seeking justice, following which police police took case against Rasheed.
Rejecting the charges, Rasheed said he was being framed by his political opponents in the Congress-led UDF.
