With elections to 12 municipalities being held today in West Bengal, an incident of clash between the ruling Trinamool Congress and opposition CPI(M) was reported, while malpractices were alleged in other areas.
Four TMC supporters were injured in a clash with the CPI(M) at Banipur in Habra municipality in North 24 Parganas district, police sources said.
The condition of one of the injured was stated to be serious.

The CPI(M) complained of booth capturing by the TMC.
In Burdwan district, the CPI(M) alleged electoral malpractices by the TMC in the municipality elections with the party saying that it was boycotting the polls.
Alleging that TMC was disallowing CPI(M) polling agents in booths and intimidating candidates, Marxist District Committee Secretary Amal Halder said "We are boycotting the elections.
"We demand fresh polling in all the booths in Burdwan town," he said.
State Election Commissioner Mira Pande visited two booths in ward 4 and four booths in ward 19 in Panihati Municipality in North 24 Parganas district.
