Municipal staffer held in bribery case

Lokayukta Police today caught a staff-member of Agar Municipality for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 7,000.

"Deputy inspector of Agar Municipality's Revenue Department, Chintaman Vyas, was trapped while accepting the bribe and was later arrested. The action had been taken based on a complaint lodged by one Shailendra Kasar," Lokayukta Inspector Basant Shrivastava told PTI.

Vyas had demanded Rs 7,000 from Kasara to mutate a piece of land in his name, which the latter has bought, he added.

Lokayukta team laid the trap on the municipality premises, the inspector said adding that the accused has been granted bail after being booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
