The head clerk of a local body here was murdered by unidentified assailants who slit his throat at Kandhla town in Shamli district, police said today.
The incident took place last night when Shamim Ahmad, head clerk of Kandhla municipality, was working and the accused entered his room and slit his throat, SHO Anuradha Singhal said.
Ahmad died on the spot, she said.
Police rushed to the spot and sent the body for postmortem, Singhal said.
The reason behind the murder is not known yet, the SHO said, adding investigation is underway.
