A 27-year-old history-sheeter was shot dead here, ostensibly to avenge the murder of another criminal, police said today.
Shyam Kumar was going on a motorcycle yesterday evening when two bike-borne assailants attacked him near Maheshpura railway crossing under Subhash Nagar police station on the Badaun road.
As Kumar fell on the ground , the assailants fired two shots and also attacked him with knives, police said, adding he was rushed to the district hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Kumar was an accused in the case of murder of another criminal Sheru about a month ago and he had perhaps been killed to avenge it, he added.
