A murder case has been registered against unidentified policemen after the family members of two history-sheeters, who were found dead on January 1, alleged that they were killed by police.

"An FIR has been lodged with Detection of Crime Branch (DCB), who will investigate the matter further," Police Commissioner, Anupamsinh Gehlot, said.

Earlier, Joint Commissioner of Police Deepak Bhatt had claimed that Shaktisinh Zala (19) and Prakash Lunagariya (35) were injured after a fight broke out between them over sharing of an amount of Rs 5,700 looted from passers by.

Both were found injured near Aji GIDC area and were rushed to civil hospital, where they were declared dead, he had said.

Lunagariya alongwith his accomplices Kadar Malek and Prakash Parmar attacked Shaktisinh and Yuvrajsinh Zala and in the fight Lunagariya and Shaktisinh sustained injuries and died before getting treatment at civil hospital, the official had claimed then.

However, Lunagariya's father Devrajbhai and other family members submitted memorandum to the district collector Vikrant Pandey and demanded a CBI probe in the matter. While Shaktisinh's mother Neetaba also alleged that police had killed her son.

The Lunagariya family accepted body of Prakash only after Commissioner Gehlot assured them of probe against involvement of policemen in the incident.
