A prisoner serving life imprisonment in the Nagpur central prison today managed to escape from the jail premises, a police official said here.
The convict identified as Purushottam Ramaji Bhoyar (39) from Gadchiroli distinct was taken out for work outside jail premises as per routine this morning, the official said.
However, later a jail security guard realised that he was missing.
An offence under relevant section of the Indian Penal Code was registered at the Dhantoli police station.
