Murder convict lodged at Kota jail dies

A 57-year-old murder convict serving life imprisonment at Kota central jail died late Monday night after complaining of chest pain.

Akeel Ahmad, a resident of Kotedi area of Kota, complained of chest pain around 10.30 pm last night following which he was rushed to the Maharao Bheem Singh (MBS) government hospital.

He breathed his last at around 11.50 pm while undergoing treatment, said Yogesh Kumar Taije, Jailor, Kota Central Jail.

The dead body was sent to the mortuary of the hospital for the postmortem and the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) is investigating the matter, officials said.

The deceased inmate was convicted for life term in October 2005 and was currently living in Open Air Camp (Open Jail) with his family members, the Jailor said.
 

The cause of death would be known after the post-mortem report is received, Taije added.
