Murder convict who jumped parole arrested after six years

A convict in a murder case who had jumped parole and was on the run for the last six months, evading arrest, was nabbed by the Kasara police last weekend the Thane district rural police said here today.

Assistant police inspector Anand Bhoir of the Kasara police station told PTI that Janardan Vithoba Bhagde of Sahapur taluka was convicted under Sections 302, 143, 147, 148 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code and sent to the Nashik Central Jail.

He came out on parole between June 9 2008 to June 22, 2008. He applied and got an additional leave of five days, after which was expected to return to jail on June 29, 2008, which he did not do and escaped.
 

Jail authorities lodged a complaint at the Kasara police which was converted into an offence and FIR on December 16, 2013.

The police spotted him on Saturday within the limits of Igatpuri and arrested him under Section 224 of the Indian Penal Code, the police officer said, adding that he would be sent back to the Nashik Central Jail.
