A 30-year-old man, wanted in

several murder cases, was arrested from an east Delhi locality when he came there to allegedly kill a witness in a case in which he was involved, police said today.

Umesh Sharma was apprehended from Trilokpuri yesterday when he came there to meet his associates to plan the murder of Sunder Bhati, who was the main witness in a shootout during a marriage function in UP's Sahibabad.

A .32 bore illegal pistol loaded with 8 live cartridges has been recovered from his possession, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said.

A resident of Loni in Ghaziabad district, Bhati is wanted in number of murder cases, committed during the gang war between Naresh Bhati and Sunder Bhati gangs of UP West region.
 

Pandit was arrested earlier in 2005 by UP Police for killing a college youth in Loni Ghaziabad as an instance of political rivalry.

In 2009, he formed a gang and Bhati emerged as his rival over the time. In November 2011, Pandit along with his associates tried to kill Bhati during a marriage function at Sahibabad. However, Bhati managed to survive foiling Pandit's plans.
