Museum on Kumar Gandharva to come up in Dewas

A museum to showcase the life and legacy of renowned Hindustani classical singer Pandit Kumar Gandharva will be set up in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said.

The CM made the announcement while participating in 'Anhad Samaroh', held at Dewas yesterday to mark the 25th death anniversary of the singing exponent, who was also known as 'Shivaputra'.

"A museum to showcase the life and legacies of Kumar Gandharva will be set up in Dewas. The place would be selected after a discussion," Chouhan said.

"Music makes life blissful. It is impossible to describe heights given to music by Pandit Kumar Gandharvaji. I am fortunate to visit the place where Kumarji has devoted his life for music," he added.
 

Earlier, Chouhan visited Gandharva's house in Dewas and saw his childhood photographs and other items displayed in his memory. Gandharva spent most of his life in Dewas.

He also announced the installation of a statue of Kumar Gandharva in Dewas, while Civil Lines road in the city will also be named after him.
