Mushtaq to hold spin bowling clinic for West Indies cricketers

Former Pakistan off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq will hold a nearly month-long spin bowling clinic for the West Indies cricketers, which also include the members of their touring 'A' side to India for the ODI and Test series beginning next month.

Mushtaq has been contracted by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) to impart spin bowling training to current and emerging Caribbean cricketers in Barbados next week as part of the general upskilling.

Mushtaq will be working with twelve men's spin bowlers from various age groups along with three West Indies women's player, reported Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC).

Nikita Miller was supposed to participate in the clinic but opted out due to pre-arranged personal engagement. He will depart with the West Indies 'A' ODI squad to India before the first and only Twenty20 match between the two sides at the Jawaharlal Nehru National College of Engineering Ground, Shimoga.
 

Permaul and Nurse will leave the clinic on September 10 for departure to India. Shillingford will leave on September 20 to join the team in India for the Test series.

The participants were selected by the WICB Selection panel, chaired by Clyde Butts.

Mushtaq also serves as spin bowling consultant to Bangladesh.
