A music teacher has been arrested for alleged sexual harassment of girl students at a convent school in Bhilwara, the police said today.
The administration of the private school had filed a complaint with the police stating that girls of Class VI have alleged that 25-year-old Bhawar Lal Damani, the music teacher, used to "touch, eve tease and stare" at them during music classes, a police official said.
Damani was arrested yesterday and charged under new section 354 (A) of IPC, 509, and section 11 and 42 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, the police official said.
The accused was today taken to a special court for seeking his police remand.
The school administration has sacked the accused teacher.
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Protection Commission (RSCPCRP) has taken congizane of the case and sent its member to review the case.
