All India Sunni Jam-iyyathul Ulama, a Muslim outfit, has asked the community to reject the reported call of Al-Qaeda to expand its activities in India.

The call would not have any impact in the country, the outfit's General Secretary Kanthapuram A P Abubaker Musaliar said at a function here yesterday.

The country's constitution is strong enough to protect the interest of minorities and there is no need for any help of any external forces, he said .

The call of organisations like Al-Qaeda would not protect the country's interests, he said, adding, "it would only lead to making the minority community enemy of major communities".

Al-Qaeda, in a recent video, has purportedly threatened to take the terror outfit's campaign to India.
