Mustard seed futures drop by Rs 15 per quintal

Mustard seed prices were lower by Rs 15 to Rs 3,775 per quintal in futures trade today on slashing of bets by participants, guided by lower physical sentiments.

Marketmen said speculators were reducing holdings in line with a decline in its prices at physical markets due to sustained arrivals from growing regions amid withdrawal of support from oil mills, led to the fall in mustard seed prices here in futures trade.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, mustard seed for delivery in September contracts eased by Rs 15 or 0.40 per cent to Rs 3,775 per quintal, in an open interest of 49,720 lots.
 

Similarly, the delivery for the October slipped by Rs 14 or 0.36 per cent to Rs 3,826 per quintal, depicting an open interest of 21,920 lots.
