Mustard seed prices rose by Rs 18 to Rs 3,546 per quintal in futures trading today after participants widened their holdings, driven by a firm trend at the physical markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, mustard seed for delivery in July advanced by Rs 18, or 0.51 per cent, to Rs 3,546 per quintal, in an open interest of 52,940 lots.

Mustard seed for delivery in June too looked up by Rs 17, or 0.49 per cent, to Rs 3,500 per quintal, having an open interest of 47,780 lots.

Marketmen said, raising of bets by participants, tracking a firm trend at the spot markets on strong demand from mills, led to the rise in mustard seed prices in futures trade here.
