Mustard seed prices weakened by Rs 28 to Rs 3,966 per quintal in futures trading today on cutting down of holdings amid subdued physical sentiments.
According to analysts, the fall in demand was due to a slackness in demand from oil mills as depressed investors started to offload holdings.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange platform, mustard seed delivery for December slipped by Rs 28, or 0.70 per cent, to Rs 3,966 per quintal, depicting an open interest of 4,470 lots.
Likewise, the delivery for January fell by Rs 11, or 0.27 per cent, to Rs 4,017 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 40,130 lots.
