Mustard seed futures recover on short covering

Mustard seed prices restored by Rs 19 to Rs 3,955 per quintal in futures trade today on short covering by operators supported by rising trend in physical markets.

According to market players, besides collecting of holdings at existing levels by the participants, strong demand for oil mills amid restricted arrivals from producing belts in spot markets, buoyed up tick in mustard seed futures prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange platform, mustard seed delivery for the most active May went up by Rs 19 or 0.48 per cent to Rs 3,955 per quintal, persisting an open interest of 1,16,960 lots.

Similarly, the delivery April looked up by Rs 18 or 0.46 per cent to Rs 3,921 per quintal, depicting an open interest of 15,170 lots.
