Mustard seed prices went up by 0.47 per cent to 4,025 per quintal in futures trade today after participants widened their bets, taking positive cues from spot market on upsurge in demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, mustard seed for delivery in July moved up by Rs 19, or 0.47 per cent to Rs 4,025 per quintal with an open interest of 1,46,620 lots.
Likewise, the oil for delivery in August was trading higher by Rs 17, or 0.42 per cent to Rs 4,066 per quintal in 17,580 lots.
Marketmen said the rise in mustard seed prices at futures market was mostly due to pick up in demand in the physical markets amid pause in supplies from growing belts.
