Mustardseed futures climb on strong spot demand

Mustardseed prices spurted by Rs 107 to Rs 4,348 per quintal in futures trading today as participants widened their positions amid a firm trend at the physical markets on strong demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, mustardseed for delivery in May month contracts shot up by Rs 107, or 2.52 per cent to Rs 4,348 per quintal, with an open interest of 45,660 lots.

On similar lines, mustardseed for delivery in April month climbed Rs 103, or 2.46 per cent to Rs 4,298 per quintal, having an open interest of 30,910 lots.

Marketmen raising of positions by participants, supported by a firm trend at the domestic spot markets on strong demand form millers amid restricted supplies from growing r4egions, mainly influenced mustardseed prices at futures trade.
