Mustardseed prices went up by Rs 41 to Rs 4,683 per quintal in futures trading today as participants built up fresh positions, driven by a firm trend at the physical market on strong demand amid tight stocks.

Marketmen said paucity of ready stocks due to tight arrivals from growing regions against strong demand in spot markets mainly attributed rise in mustardseed prices at futures trade.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, mustardseed for delivery in December moved higher by Rs 41 or 0.88 per cent to Rs 4,683 per quintal, with an open interest of 38,550 lots.

Also, mustardseed for delivery in January was trading higher by Rs 37 or 0.79 per cent to Rs 4,718 per quintal, having an open interest of 32,670 lots.
