Mustardseed prices spurted by Rs 64 to Rs 4,602 per quintal in futures trading today as participants engaged in raising their bets on expectations of pick-up in demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, mustardseed for delivery in November soared by Rs 64 or 1.41 per cent to Rs 4,602 per quintal, with an open interest of 33,110 lots.
Also, most-active December delivery was trading higher by Rs 59 or 1.30 per cent to Rs 4,585 per quintal, having an open interest of 37,590 lots.
Marketmen attributed the rise in mustardseed prices at futures trade to speculative positions built up by participants, supported by strong demand at the physical markets.
