Mustardseed futures dip on weak domestic cues

Mustardseed prices dipped by Rs 67 to Rs 4,774 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators indulged in reduced their positions amid a weak trend at the spot markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, mustardseed delivery for delivery in most-active September month was trading lower by Rs 67, or 1.38 per cent to Rs 4,774 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 75,270 lots.

In a similar fashion, delivery in October month contracts dropped by Rs 61, or 1.24 per cent to Rs 4,863 per quintal, having an open interest of 33,550 lots.

Marketmen said the fall in mustardseed prices at futures trade was largley in tandem with a weak trend at the spot markets on reports of good progress in sowing progress following widespread rains amid sluggish industrial demand.
