Mustardseed prices plunged by Rs 43 to Rs 3,861 per quintal in futures trading today after participants cut down their bets amid a weak trend at the physical markets.
Marketmen said the fall in mustardseed prices at futures trade was mostly attributed to a weak trend at the spot markets on arrival of new crop in the mandies.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, mustardseed for delivery in April month dipped by Rs 43 or 1.10 per cent to Rs 3,861 per quintal, having an open interest of 46,170 lots.
The mustardseed for delivery in far-month May also dropped by Rs 44 or 1.11 per cent to Rs 3,917 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 20,920 lots.
