Mustardseed prices looked up by Rs 20 to Rs 4,546 per quintal in futures trading today after participants raised their bets, tracking a firm trend at the spot markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, mustardseed for delivery in November gained Rs 20 or 0.44 per cent to Rs 4,546 per quintal, with an open interest of 38,180 lots.

In a similar manner, delivery in December enquired higher by Rs 17 or 0.38 per cent to Rs 4,515 per quintal, depicting an open interest of 31,730 lots.

Marketmen said strong demand from oil mills amid less arrivals from growing regions in spot markets mainly encouraged traders to build up fresh positions, attributing rise in mustardseed prices in future market.
