Mustardseed prices were lower by Rs 42 to Rs 3,875 per quintal in futures trading today as participants cut down their bets amid a weak trend at the physical markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, mustardseed for delivery in February dipped by Rs 42, or 1.09 per cent, to Rs 3,875 per quintal, with an open interest of 20,150 lots.

Mustardseed for delivery in current month also eased by Rs 4, or 0.09 per cent, to Rs 4,291 per quintal, having an open interest of 17,220 lots.

Marketmen said the fall in mustardseed prices was mostly attributed to offloading of positions by participants, tracking a weak trend at the spot markets on reports of good crop estimates.

Besides, slackness in demand from oil mills, too dampened trading sentiments, they quoted.
