Jeera prices drifted 1.10 per cent to Rs 14,770 per quintal in futures trade today as traders trimmed positions owing to slackened demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in March month dropped by Rs 165 or 1.10 per cent to Rs 14,770 per quintal with an open interest of 1,302 lots.

Also, the spice for delivery in far-month April contracts traded lower by Rs 130, or 0.88 per cent to Rs 14,695 per quintal in 10,032 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by participants, driven by fall demand in the spot market at existing levels against adequate stocks position on higher supplies from producing belts mainly kept pressure on jeera prices at futures trade.
