Lead prices fell by 0.54 per cent to Rs 138.65 per kg in futures market today as speculators trimmed their positions amid tepid demand at the spot markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in May eased by 75 paise, or 0.54 per cent, to Rs 138.65 per kg in business turnover of 15 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in April contracts was trading lower by 70 paise, or 0.50 per cent, to Rs 138.40 per kg in 446 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by participants following subdued demand from battery makers in the physical market mainly led to decline in lead prices at futures trade.
