Cardamom prices fell by 0.78 per cent to Rs 945 per kg in futures trade today as participants trimmed positions, driven by sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in August shed Rs 7.40, or 0.78 per cent, to Rs 945 per kg in business turnover of 5 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in September contracts traded lower by Rs 3.50, or 0.37 per cent, to Rs 947 per kg in 12 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by traders due to muted demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position mainly influenced cardamom prices at futures trade.
