Cardamom prices drifted 2.22 per cent to Rs 720 per kg in futures market today as traders cut down their bets, driven by easing demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April declined by Rs 16.40, or 2.22 per cent, to Rs 720 per kg, in a business turnover of 260 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in May weakened by Rs 10.80, or 1.42 per cent, to Rs 746.10 per kg in 16 lots.
Traders said offloading of positions by participants amid sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position on higher supplies from producing belts mainly led to decline in the cardamom prices at futures trade.
