Cardamom down by 4% on muted demand

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices drifted by 3.98% to Rs 601.90 per kg in futures market today as traders lightened their positions, driven by easing demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position.

Sentiment weakened further as the traders booked profits at the prevailing levels amid subdued demand for the commodity.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in February declined by Rs 25, or 3.98%, to Rs 601.90 per kg, in a business turnover of seven lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in March weakened by Rs 3.20, or 0.45%, to Rs 704 per kg in 165 lots.

Traders said offloading of positions by participants amid sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position on higher supplies from producing belts mainly led to decline in cardamom prices at futures trade.
