Cardamom down 1.2% on muted demand

Cardamom prices fell 1.24% to Rs 883 per kg in futures trade today as participants reduced their exposures amid sluggish demand in the spot market against ample stocks position.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in September drifted lower by Rs 11.10 or 1.24% to Rs 883 per kg in business turnover of 28 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in August contracts traded lower by Rs 9.30 or 1.04% to Rs 883 per kg in 194 lots.

Traders said trimming of positions by traders on the back of subdued demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position on higher supplies from producing belts mainly led to decline in cardamom prices at futures trade.
