Cardamom prices drifted lower by 2.63 per cent to Rs 1,172 per kg in futures market today as traders lightened their positions to book profits amid easing demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in October declined by Rs 31.70, or 2.63 per cent, to Rs 1,172 per kg, in a business turnover of 155 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in September weakened by Rs 22.20, or 1.93 per cent, to Rs 1,126.10 per kg in 156 lots.
Traders said trimming of positions by participants amid sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position on higher supplies from producing belts mainly led to the decline in cardamom prices at futures trade.
