Muted demand drags down chana futures by 0.48%

Chana prices drifted lower by 0.48 per cent to Rs 4,984 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators trimmed their positions amid sluggish in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in far-month December fell by Rs 24, or 0.48 per cent to Rs 4,984 per quintal with an open interest of 21,850 lots.

Likewise, the commodity for delivery in November shed Rs 14, or 0.27 per cent to Rs 5,124 per quintal in 35,670 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by traders owing to slackened demand in physical market against adequate stocks position, mainly influenced chana prices at futures trade.
