Chana prices dropped by 2.08 per cent to Rs 4,283 per quintal in futures trade Thursday due to speculative selling triggered by weak demand in spot markets.
The contract for January 2019 dropped by Rs 91, or 2.08 per cent, to Rs 4,283 per quintal with an open interest of 34,330 lots at the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange.
The March contract of the commodity traded lower by Rs 61, or 1.35 per cent, to Rs 4,452 per quintal in 15,660 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in chana futures to offloading of positions by traders, taking negative leads from physical markets due to tepid demand.
