Lead prices softened by 0.54 per cent to Rs 157.65 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions amid subdued demand in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in March month shed 85 paise, or 0.54 per cent to Rs 157.65 per kg in business turnover of 552 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in April contracts was weakened by 75 paise, or 0.47 per cent to Rs 158.20 per kg in 9 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by traders due to decline in demand from battery-makers in the spot market led to the slide in lead prices in futures trade.
