Mentha oil prices fell by 0.59 per cent to Rs 1,162.70 per kg in futures market today as speculators trimmed positions, tracking a weak trend at spot market on sluggish demand from consuming industries.

Besides, ample stock positions on higher supplies from producing regions fuelled the downtrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in September declined by Rs 6.90, or 0.59 per cent to Rs 1,162.70 per kg in a business turnover of 405 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in August was trading lower by Rs 4.90, or 0.42 per cent to Rs 1,150 per kg in a business turnover of 85 lots.

Marketmen said easing demand from consuming industries in the spot market against ample stocks position on increased arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, mainly put pressure on mentha oil prices at futures trade.
