Mentha oil prices drifted lower by 0.15 per cent to Rs 1,053.70 per kg in futures market today as speculators trimmed their positions amid easing demand from consuming industries at the spot market.

Besides, adequate stocks position on increased supplies from producing regions put pressure on mentha oil prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery January month declined by Rs 1.60, or 0.15 per cent to Rs 1,053.70 per kg in business turnover of 102 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in February contracts shed 20 paise, or 0.02 per cent to Rs 1,060 per kg in 4 lots.

Analysts said trimming of positions by participants on the back of easing demand from consuming industries in spot market, mainly led to the decline in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
