Mentha oil prices weakened by 0.29 per cent to Rs 864.90 per kg in futures market today as participants indulged in off-loading positions amid subdued demand from consuming industries in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in May fell Rs 2.50, or 0.29 per cent, to Rs 864.90 per kg in a business turnover of 80 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in far-month June contracts edged lower by Rs 1.40, or 0.16 per cent, to Rs 855.80 per kg in 17 lots.

Analysts said trimming of positions by traders due to sluggish demand from consuming industries in the spot market against adequate stocks on higher supplies from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly influenced mentha oil prices at futures trade.
