Mentha oil prices softened by 0.57 per cent to Rs 1,404.60 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions, driven by tepid demand from consuming industries at the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in April declined by Rs 8, or 0.57 per cent to Rs 1,404.60 per kg in business turnover of 314 lots.

On similar lines, the oil for delivery in May shed Rs 1.40, or 0.11 per cent to Rs 1,289.90 per kg in 75 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by participants on the back of sluggish demand from consuming industries in spot market against adequate stocks position, mainly weighed on mentha oil prices at futures trade.
