Zinc prices slipped 0.34 per cent to Rs 219.15 per kg in futures trade today as speculators reduced positions, tracking a weak trend in the spot market on sluggish demand from consuming industries.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in current month declined by 75 paise, or 0.34 per cent, to Rs 219.15 per kg in a business turnover of 815 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in February contracts was trading 70 paise, or 0.32 per cent, lower at Rs 218.55 per kg in 20 lots.

Marketmen said offloading of positions by traders owing to slackened demand from consuming industries in the physical market and weakness in base metals overseas influenced prices at futures trade.
