Jeera prices fell 0.86 per cent to Rs 15,480 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions, driven by subdued demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in November declined Rs 135, or 0.86 per cent, to Rs 15,480 per quintal, with an open interest of 6,177 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in far-month December traded lower by Rs 115, or 0.73 per cent, to Rs 15,735 per quintal in 10,263 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by participants, tracking subdued domestic as well as exports demand in the spot market against sufficient stocks position, mainly weighed on jeera prices at futures trade.
