Press Trust of India Muzaffarnagar
Supporters of BKU chief Naresh Tikait and a khap leader, who have been booked for their alleged involvement in the Muzaffarnagar riots, today protested in Sisoli and Lisad villages in the district.

The supporters protested the arrest warrant issued against the BKU chief and case lodged against the Khap head in connection with the Muzaffarnagar riots, sources said.

Harikishan Singh and his two sons are among 85 persons booked under Section 153 A (promoting enmity between different groups) 395 (punishment for dacoity), Section 436 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy house, etc) of the IPC.

A local court in Muzaffarnagar had issued an arrest warrant against Tikait on September 18 for violating prohibitory orders and provoking violence by giving inflammatory speeches.

Communal violence had erupted in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas after three persons were killed in Kawal village on August 27 over an eve-teasing incident.
