Muzaffarnagar riots: Two arrested in gang-rape case

Two persons have been arrested in connection with a gang-rape case during last year clashes here, taking the total number of those arrested in riot-related rape cases to 21.

Roopesh and Amar Deep, who were absconding in connection with a gang-rape case in Phugana village of the district, were arrested and sent to judicial custody by Chief Judicial Magistrate Narendra Kumar last evening.

According to SIT which is probing the riots cases, 21 persons have been arrested in connection with six rape cases and only four accused are now absconding.

The court has already initiated attachment proceedings against the four remaining accused.
 

Seven riot-related gang-rape cases were initially registered against 27 people. Out of these, one case was registered in Lank village and six others in Phugana village of which one case was closed. Thus, 25 people were found involved in six cases by the SIT.
