Recalling Debaki Bose had given the name Suchitra to her illustrious grandmother, actor Riya Sen regrets not having watched Bose's award winner classic Sita till this date.

"With Sita reaching the milestone of 80 years as the first Indian film to get an award in the prestigious Venice Film Festival, I am justifiably proud as a citizen," the 'Noukadubi' actor told PTI.

"He was the person having the vision to give such a nice, befitting name like Suchitra to Amma. I also do miss him as a film maker, we didn't get another Debaki Bose," Riya said.

Sita was screened in the 1934 Venice Film festival and secured an award, the first Indian film to be bestowed such honour.

Eminent painter Suvaprasanna suggested a prize be instituted in the name of Bose in the world of films."

"It can be another Dadasaheb Phalke or something different but covering show business achievements," the 'crow-panter' said.

"We are indifferent about our history. This only retards our growth as a nation," Suvaprasanna said.

Sita, was partly such named as people had a low esteem about film makers in those times. Some of its footage were screened here recently along with a docufeature on Debaki, the untold geniuus, a member of Debaki Bose Memorial Committee, the organisers, said.
