A 12-member Myanmar delegation today said that they had visited Mizoram to study the federal system of the country especially how the areas inhabited by minority communities were administered.

The delegation led by Oo Hla Saw, MP of Arakan National Party, told reporters that they also wanted to know how peace was achieved in Mizoram which was reeling under insurgency for 20 years.

Earlier during its three-day visit to the state, the delegation, which included five Members of Parliament (Hluttaw), met state Governor Lt General Nirbhay Sharma, Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla and former Chief Minister Zoramthanga.

The visit of the delegation, which left the state this afternoon, was organised by the Ministry of External Affairs Ministry and the Delhi-based think tank - Observer Research Foundation (ORF).
