Mythological stories related to the story of the ancient sage Vishwamitra is being told in a contemporary way in a debut book by physician Vineet Aggarwal.

The book, says publishers, is "not as much about celebrating the gods as it is about challenging them."

Vishwamitra, brave but stubborn and haughty yet compassionate went on to become the 'Brahmrishi' - the most well-known sages of all times who propounded the ultimate, Gayatri Mantra, in his pursuit.

Born into a family of doctors, Aggarwal ventured into pharmaceutical management and now pursues writing as a passion. He is also an avid travel photographer as well.

Aggarwal's literary repertoire extends from politics to poetry and travel to terrorism but he says his favorite genre remains the amalgamation of science and mythology.

He has also authored online blogs on Hindu mythology.
