N Ravi, Director of Kasturi and Sons Limited, publisher of "The Hindu" newspaper, has been unanimously elected President of the Editors Guild of India.
Ravi, a former editor of the newspaper, was elected in the annual general meeting of the Guild yesterday, a statement said.
He will succeed T N Ninan, Chairman and Editorial Director of "Business Standard".

Ravi's name was proposed by senior journalist H K Dua and seconded by K K Katyal, it said.
The editors also discussed Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's recommendation relating to cross media ownership and felt that its plurality and diversity needs to be ensured.
Ninan had been asked to prepare the Guild's response, the statement said.
During the meeting, the editors also discussed issues relating to self-regulation and maintaining ethical standards and statements made by Minister of Information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari and Chairman of Press Council of India Justice (retd) Markandey Katju on regulating the media.
"It was felt that any attack on the press needs to be fought at all levels and at the same time efforts should be made to create a sense of responsibility among various sections of the media," the statement said.
