Gearing up to tackle the rush during Holi and summer, Northern Railway is rolling out an action plan to ensure smooth functioning of reservation counters, various passenger amenities and also to curb malpractices in reservation offices.

As per the plan, the staff will be posted near windows outside the reservation counters at all locations of reservation offices during the rush period and would counter-sign the requisition forms after ensuring complete filling of the form, especially the address before it is submitted to the reservation clerk.

The staff and senior railway officers will be deputed to supervise all reservation counters at 7.30 AM at all locations after which they should be posted at their respective designated positions where they will remain upto 11.30 AM on all days including Sundays and holidays, a senior Northern Railway official said.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, along with commercial officers would ensure that all reservation counters at all locations are properly manned.

Availability of adequate requisition forms shall be ensured at all reservation offices.

Sufficient number of Commercial/Vigilance Inspectors and RPF/Police staff would be deputed at reservation offices for keeping surveillance over the activities of touts and anti-social elements and detect various frauds including travel on transfer tickets.

Frequent and regular announcements about introduction of special trains, augmentation, etc, would be made for the information of users so that complete occupancy of such trains is ensured and pressure on regular trains is reduced.

Advertisements would also be put out in newspapers containing information regarding special trains and extra coaches.

For the convenience of senior citizens, it will be ensured that adequate wheel chairs are available.

Campaigns will also be launched to avoid complaints regarding overcharging by porters.
