NAAC gives 'A' grade to Himachal Pradesh University

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has given "A" grade to Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla.

A 13-member team of NAAC had inspected the performance of HPU from October 3 to 6 and the grading was notified today, HPU Vice Chancellor Prof A D N Bajpai said.

The Jammu University got "A+" grade while Bangalore University and Vardhman university also got A grade but were behind HPU which was given 3.21 out of 4 points against 3.16 and 3.11 points earned by Bangalore and Vardhman varsities respectively.

The final grading for the third cycle (2016) was recommended in the 18th meeting of the standing committee of NAAC held in Bangalore today, Bajpai said.
 

He said a 35-member working group and various committees have been constituted to start the work for the fourth cycle of the accreditation due in 2021.

3.21 CGPA was much better than the earlier received 2.5 CGPA out of 4 with B grade in 2009 in cycle II. The university received 80.5 points out of 100 with B++ grade in 2003 in Cycle 1, he said.

HPU having very peculiar conditions has done commendable job in multipurpose research and extension duringthe past six years, the VC added.
